Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc: Creating all favorable conditions for Long An to attract the investments

On October 17, in Tan An City, People’s Committee of Long An Province held the Long An Investment Promotion Conference 2016 with the topic “Integration – Sustainable Development”. Attended at the conference, there were the presences of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, former State President Truong Tan Sang, Standing Deputy Minister Truong Hoa Binh and nearly 600 delegates from Government’s Office, ministries, central governments, leaders of the cities/provinces, international organizations, general consuls in Vietnam, professional associations, groups, domestic and foreign enterprises, nearly100 press organizations.

Spoken at the opening of the Conference, Chairman of People's Committee of Long An Province – Mr. Tran Van Can confirmed that the investment promotion activities of Long An Province had been promoted effectively the advantages of the province and brought the practical effectiveness. Up to now, Long An has nearly 7,900 enterprises operating in the province with the total registered capital of more than 189,000 billions VND. Nearly 1,300 projects were registered and granted with the investment certificates with the total capital of nearly 140,000 billions VND.
The whole Long An Province has 16 industrial parks under operation with the occupation rate of 61%, and 14 industrial complexes under operation with the occupation rate of more than 88%. The province ranks the first in foreign investment capital attraction among the Mekong River Delta Region with 772 projects from 37 countries and territories through direct investments into Long An Province with the total registered capital of more than 5.1 billions USD. Long An Province currently has about 5,000 ha of clean land with the ability to receive the investment projects up to 2020.

Long An calls for investment in 16 projects: Economic zone of Long An border gate; Viet Phat Industrial Zone; Production investment and building winged yam processing factory – Long An province; Don Rach Cat (Rach Cat military post) ecological zone; Khang Thong entertainment complex zone (Happy land); Reception area of food warehouse logistics- Long An Province Dong Thap Muoi region; Container yard, logistics – Long An port; Long An Dong Thap Muoi biotechnology zone; Tan An city belt road (included bridge system); Dragon Fruit processing factory; Container yard, logistics services – Ben Luc; Long An province beef cattle breeding development; Tan An rainwater drainage system and domestic water sewage treatment system; Transportation-Urban area Axis Infrastructure connecting to HCMC; Phu An Thanh Industrial Zone; Solar energy development project (clean energy).
The total value of 16 projects calling for investments into Long An is more than 7 billions USD and 6,300 billions VND. At present, there are 6 investors registered to invest into Long An with the registered capital of more than 2 billions VND and more than 5,000 billions VND.

Spoken at the Conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the efforts and highly appreciated the outstanding achievements that Long An province gained recently. Long An is the province with the fast economic transition speed and the Provincial Competitiveness Index of Long An ranks the 9th nationwide and ranks the 2nd in Mekong River Delta Region. In the past 5 years, Long An has attracted more than 700 direct foreign investment projects with more than 5 billions USD of registered investment capital.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that Long An was located in the gateway to connect Ho Chi Minh City with Mekong River Delta Region provinces with sea port, large land and many favorable conditions for developing agriculture and industry. Therefore, in the coming time, Long An should have the strong breakthrough in development to create the favorable investment and business environments to attract the investors to Long An. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc suggested that Long An should aim at building the e-government model which was closely linked to the public administration activities, created the transparent legal corridor. At the same time, the leaders of Long An Province should increase the dialogues with the enterprises to timely solve their problems and actively improve the investment environment and strictly conform to the commitments with the enterprises. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also suggested the enterprises and investors to act as they talked and not delay in implementing the projects after getting the licenses.
In socio-economic development planning, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hoped that Long An Province would pay more attention on the region connection and take advantages of the supports from the neighboring provinces/cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Southeast Region provinces, Mekong River Delta Region provinces to promote the development. At the same time, Long An Province should build the special strengths and advantages to create the difference in attracting the domestic and foreign investments. Long An should solve effectively the traffic connection and environmental protection problems to aim at sustainable and long-term development.
